The third edition of the Women’s Premier League will get underway from Monday50jili, February 14, with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on Gujarat Giants in the curtain raiser of the tournament in Vadodara. (More Cricket News)

The tournament will be played across four cities - Vadodara, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Mumbai.

With 22 matches to be played, the women’s premier league could allow players to regain their lost spots or enter India's white-ball set-up in a home ODI World Cup year. 

Here are a few players who could make a name for themselves in the upcoming WPL 2025 Shafali Verma - Delhi Capitals

Shafali Verma was back playing domestic cricket after he lost her place in the Indian side. She was the leading run-scorer in the Senior Women’s One-day Trophy scoring 527 runs at an average of 75.29, and the Senior Women’s One-day Challenger with 414 runs, averaging 82.80.

Playing for Delhi Capitals, and partnering Meg Lanning, the 21-year-old star could make her India return with an England tour and ODI World Cup yet to come in the calendar year.

 Saika Ishaque - Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians’ Saika Ishaque has featured in three T20Is and a single one-day international for India, picking up five wickets collectively. However,windream ph India have not had a constant left-arm orthodox spinner to head their spin bowling arsenal. She has also picked up 17 wickets in the one-dayers, and 13 in the T20s in the domestic arena this time around.

"Amit Rohidas was suspended for one match for a breach of the FIH Code of Conduct which occurred during the India vs Great Britain match on August 4," a FIH official statement read.

Playing in his last international tournament, Sreejesh was the cynosure of all eyes as he consistently denied Great Britain scoring opportunities while the others rallied around him. In the penalty shoot-out, he saved the third and the fourth shots to help India win.

After working on her fitness and fielding abilities, Ishaque could make her much-awaited return into the national set-up with a solid performance in WPL 2025. Two of the four venues that will host the tournament will aid spin and it could work out in Ishaque’s favour.

Yastika Bhatia - Mumbai Indians

The flamboyant Yastika Bhatia has been in and out of the Indian side with injuries and consistently playing a part in her national return. She missed the Australian tour after injuring her wrist during her first stint at the WBBL. 

Bhatia has not played for India since the three one-day internationals against New Zealand but will hope to make her presence felt at the top of the order for Mumbai Indians and fight her way back into India’s white-ball setup. 

Kashvee Gautam - Gujarat Giants

Kashvee Gautam had the country talking when he bagged ten wickets in an innings that also included a hat-trick in the U-19 one-dayers in 2020. Three years later, she was picked by Gujarat Giants for INR 2 crore at the auction, but missed the tournament due to injury.

Earlier in the season, she made her return to the domestic circuit and a promising tournament could have her name in the mix with India needing a good-length bowling who could clock decent speeds. 

Arundhati Reddy - Delhi Capitals

Arundhati Reddy, also from the Delhi Capitals was dropped after average performances for India. The 27-year-old picked up seven scalps at the T20 World Cup in 2024, and just managed to feature in one match during India’s tour to Australia that the visitors failed miserably. 

Reddy’s WPL 2024 was a massive launchpad for her India comeback and the same tournament could set the platform for her return.50jili
